...1000 patients? Well, maybe not 1000, but it IS important to put your picture up on your web site. 48% of practices have a photo of each optometrist online, while 33% have staff photos online.
Of course, existing patients already know what you and your staff look like - which might lead you to conclude that you don't really need photos online. Please also remember that one of the primary goals of your site is to attract new patients to the practice, and a photo can help achieve that goal, while also re-enforcing the professionalism your practice to existing patients (referrals, anyone?).
Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a professional photographer to take your photo. A good digital camera will get the job done. Make sure the lighting is good, and the background is as bare as possible. It's always better to stand rather than sit for the photo, and have your body slightly turned on an angle from the camera. The photo can be taken anywhere and does not necessarily need to be taken in your office.
Once you've taken the photo, you need to make sure that it's properly sized for the web, and then upload it to your site (If you're an EyeCarePro customer, and you want to know how to upload photos to your site, you should look at Technical Tips: Uploading Photos To Your Site).
