Tackling Your Online To-do List

Thus far we have provided you with an abundance of tips for improving your search engine ranking and your social media campaign.  At this point, you may be thinking, “How am I supposed to do all of this AND run a successful optometry practice?” It’s true that online marketing takes a lot of time and persistence but if you let that intimidate you, you will miss out on a tremendous opportunity to grow your business.  There is always the option of hiring a company (like Eyecarepro) to handle the upkeep of your web presence but if that isn’t an option, here are a few suggestions on how to make the job seem more manageable.

  1. Set a schedule. Whether it is checking in on your Google analytics traffic report, updating your website with the latest news for your practice or posting a weekly blog on your Facebook page, it helps to designate a time focused to these tasks at regular intervals. Make a list of the tasks that need to be accomplished and add these “appointments” to your calendar so you don’t forget or come up with any excuses to delay.
  2. Assign responsibility. If all of the necessary work seems too cumbersome for one person, split it up.  You can write the blog posts and your office manager can post them, while your assistant updates the website with your office news. Adding clearly defined responsibilities to your above schedule, allows more to be accomplished.
  3. Make it automatic.  There are a variety of online programs and tools that can assist you in your marketing endeavors.  For example, you can automate your blog and post updates for your social media campaign using a site called hootsuite. Hootsuite allows you to enter a number of entries and schedule when you would like them to be posted to your social media (Twitter/Facebook) accounts.  This way, you can plan to attend to this task at a specific time of the month and not have to worry about posting at frequent intervals.

The most important tip is of course, don’t give up. Your continued effort is a necessary element in the success of your online campaign!
